Akmal Rizal named head coach

Kedah FA have appointed Akmal Rizal Ahmad Rakhli as head coach ahead of the 2026/27 A1 Semi-Pro League season.

Akmal Rizal, who played for Kedah during his career, arrives from Kelantan The Real Warriors and has also managed Penang. He replaces Victor Andrag, who took the side to third place in 2025/26 on 57 points from 17 wins, six draws and five defeats.

A considered appointment

The Kedah Football Association described the appointment as the outcome of a thorough search intended to keep the team’s direction on track for the new season.

“The appointment is believed capable of bringing fresh energy to the team while supporting short and long-term plans,” said KFA deputy president Datuk Abdul Rahman Abdullah.
